We install tree and shrub Christmas lights in Surrey. We wrap trunks and limbs, put nets on hedges and drape strands through cedars and evergreens, all on outdoor-rated cords run to a timer. Most yards take an hour or two on top of the house lights. Price depends on the size and number of trees, how they are lit, the distance to a plug, and whose lights are used.

  • We light front trees, cedars, hedges and shrubs, with or without the house.
  • We hang your outdoor-rated lights if they work, or supply lights.
  • Clips only, no nails or staples, and everything comes down in January.
  • Price depends on tree size and count, lighting style, plug distance and who supplies the lights.

What Surrey yards usually need

Surrey yards vary a lot. Older parts of the city have big cedars and hedges that the owner can no longer reach from a ladder. Many 1970s and 1980s homes in Newton, Guildford and Fleetwood have a large front tree and a long hedge along the walk. Newer homes in Morgan Creek and South Surrey have tall entries and steep front peaks, so the house is lit and the yard beside it stays dark.

That is where tree and shrub lighting helps. A lit front tree or hedge makes the whole front of the house look finished. Plenty of people only want the yard done, and that is a fine job to book on its own.

If you have bins of lights in the garage, tell us. We will test them and hang the ones that work.

How we wrap, drape and net

The method depends on the plant. Bare trunks and limbs look best wrapped closely. Cedars and other evergreens look better with strands draped through the branches from the top down. Hedges get nets, which keeps them from looking patchy when lit.

Everything runs on outdoor-rated cords to a timer. We use clips only, with no nails or staples. The strands sit loosely for the season and come off in January, which is what keeps the tree safe. Leaving lights wrapped on a growing limb all year is what causes damage.

Power matters in a big yard. The lights need an outdoor plug within reach of an outdoor-rated cord. If the plug is far from the tree, we will tell you how the cords would run before you book. In homes with suites, the outdoor plugs may not be on your panel, so it helps to know that early.

Price, timing and weather

Price is based on the size and number of trees and shrubs, how they are lit, how far they are from an outdoor plug, and whether you use your own lights or want them supplied. Send a photo and we will say what is possible, including how high we can go on a tree. That depends on where a ladder can stand safely and what is under it.

Most yards take an hour or two on top of the house lights. Large trees take longer.

Rain and wind arrive by November. In the east of the city, colder nights can leave frost on roofs, so morning roof work may need to wait. We move roof work when it is slick or windy.

You hire us one job at a time. Install, repair and removal can each be booked alone, even on lights someone else hung.

Around Surrey

  • Older parts of Surrey often have big yards with cedars and hedges that people want lit.
  • Newer homes in Morgan Creek, Fleetwood and South Surrey have tall entries and steep front peaks, so the yard is often lit to match.
  • In Newton and Guildford, many homes have suites, and the outdoor plugs may not be on the owner's panel.
  • Large townhouse complexes in Clayton and Grandview set rules on what goes on the exterior, so check with your strata first.

We work in Cloverdale, Newton, Guildford, South Surrey, Fleetwood, Whalley, Panorama Ridge and the rest of Surrey.

Questions people ask

Will wrapping lights hurt my tree?

Not for a season. The strands sit loosely and come off in January. Leaving lights wrapped on a growing limb all year is what causes damage.

Should a tree be wrapped or draped?

Bare trunks and limbs look best wrapped closely. Evergreens and cedars look better with strands draped through the branches from the top down.

How high can you light a tree?

It depends on the tree, where a ladder can stand safely and what is under it. Send a photo and we will tell you what is possible.

Can you light just my yard and not the house?

Yes. Plenty of people only want a front tree or a hedge done, and we book that as its own job.

Do tree lights need their own power?

They need an outdoor plug within reach of an outdoor-rated cord. If the yard is far from a plug, we will explain how the cords would run before you book.

Can you use the lights I already have?

Yes, if they are outdoor-rated and still work. If not, we can supply lights. Either way, the price reflects which one you choose.

Can you take down lights someone else put up?

Yes. Install, repair and removal can each be booked alone, even on lights another person hung. Removal is done in January.

Do you work with strata townhouses in Surrey?

Yes, we also do stratas, low-rise condos and storefronts. Large complexes in Clayton and Grandview set exterior rules, so check what your strata allows before booking.
