Tall homes and steep lots on Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau
Newer homes on Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau are tall, and the lots slope. A ladder that sits fine on a flat driveway may not sit safely here, so we plan ladder positions before we start.
These streets also sit well above the valley floor. They get more rain, cooler nights and snow before the rest of Coquitlam. If you want lights up on a hillside home, book early enough to get them hung before December.
Many lots back onto forest or ravines, and cedars and firs often stand close to the roofline. Storms drop needles and branches onto the roof, so we check the roof edge and gutters before we clip anything. If the roof is slick or the wind is up, we move that part of the job to a safer day.
We use clips only. No nails or staples.
Older homes, townhouses and towers
Maillardville and Austin Heights have mid-century homes with lower rooflines and older fascia boards. Clips work well on these, and they leave the wood as we found it.
Around Burquitlam, Town Centre and Coquitlam Centre you will find townhouse complexes and strata towers. Townhouse complexes often set exterior rules, so check your strata guidelines before you book. We also do stratas, low-rise condos and storefronts, so a strata council or a shop owner can hire us for common areas and entrances.
If you live in a complex, tell us what your strata allows and which parts of the building you control. We will work inside those limits and tell you plainly what can and cannot be lit.
One job at a time, with your lights or ours
You pick what you need. Install, repair and removal can each be booked alone, even on lights someone else hung. If a string went dark halfway through December, we can repair it without redoing the whole house.
If you have bins of lights in the garage, we will hang them as long as they are outdoor-rated and still work. If they do not, we can supply lights.
The price depends on a few things we will explain up front. These include the height of your roofline, how steep the lot is and how much of the house you want lit. It also depends on whether you are using your own lights or ours.
Removal happens in January, so you do not have to think about it again until next year.
