Tree and shrub Christmas lights in Langley means we wrap trunks and limbs, drape evergreens and net hedges, all on outdoor-rated cords run to a timer. We hang your own lights if they work, or supply them. Most yards take an hour or two on top of the house, and large trees take longer. Removal is in January.

  • We wrap trunks, drape cedars and evergreens, and net hedges.
  • Your own outdoor-rated lights are fine if they work. Otherwise we supply them.
  • Clips only, with no nails or staples, and removal in January.
  • Book the yard alone. There is no program or yearly plan to join.

Why Langley yards suit tree and shrub lighting

A lit house with a dark yard looks unfinished, and Langley has a lot of yard. Brookswood and Fernridge have heavy evergreen cover on many lots, so cedars and firs are often the first thing you see from the street. Fort Langley and Aldergrove have acreages with long driveways, gates and big trees that people want lit. Walnut Grove and Murrayville have family homes with two-storey entries, where the front tree is taller than any ladder you own.

In Willoughby and Yorkson, many homes are strata townhouses. A small tree or a row of shrubs by the front door can carry the whole display there, as long as your strata rules allow it. Tell us what your bylaws say and we will work within them.

How we light trees, cedars and hedges

Each kind of plant needs a different approach.

  • Bare trunks and limbs are wrapped closely for a clean look.
  • Evergreens and cedars get strands draped through the branches from the top down.
  • Hedges get lit nets, so they do not look patchy.
  • Shrubs get strands or nets, depending on their shape.

Everything runs on outdoor-rated cords to a timer. We use clips only. No nails or staples go into your trees, fences or trim.

The lights need an outdoor plug within reach of an outdoor-rated cord. On an acreage where the tree is a long way from the plug, we will tell you how the cords would run before you book. We plan the route to keep cords off your walkway where we can.

Frost, wind and timing in Langley

Langley gets colder nights, more frost and more snow than the coastal cities. Cold outflow wind also comes through in winter. Morning roof work may wait for frost to clear, and we move roof work when it is slick or windy. Tree work is usually lower, but the same care applies to any ladder.

Wrapping will not hurt a tree for one season. The strands sit loosely and come off in January. Lights left on a growing limb all year are what cause damage, so removal is part of the plan. You can book removal on its own, even on lights we did not hang.

If a strand has died somewhere in the middle of a tree, repair can be booked by itself too.

Booking one job at a time

You hire us for the job in front of you. There is no program and no yearly plan to join. If you have bins of lights in the garage, we will check them and hang the outdoor-rated ones that work. If they do not, we supply lights.

The price depends on a few things. These are the size of the trees, where a ladder can stand safely, what is under it, and how far the cords have to run to a plug. Send a photo of the yard and we will tell you what is possible.

Most yards take an hour or two on top of the house lights. Large trees take longer. You can book only the front tree or hedge. Install, repair and removal can each be booked alone.

Around Langley

  • Brookswood and Fernridge have heavy evergreen cover, so draped cedars and firs often make the display.
  • Fort Langley and Aldergrove acreages mean big trees, gates and long cord runs to the nearest outdoor plug.
  • Willoughby and Yorkson townhouses sit under strata rules, so check your bylaws before booking.
  • Frost and cold outflow wind are more common here than near the coast, so some morning work waits for frost to clear.

We work in Walnut Grove, Willoughby, Murrayville, Brookswood, Fort Langley, Aldergrove, Langley City Centre and the rest of Langley.

Questions people ask

Will wrapping lights hurt my tree?

Not for one season. The strands sit loosely and come off in January. Damage comes from leaving lights on a growing limb all year, so we remove them after the holidays.

How tall a tree can you light?

It depends on the tree, where a ladder can stand safely and what is under it. Send us a photo and we will say what is possible.

Should a tree be wrapped or draped?

Bare trunks and limbs look best wrapped closely. Evergreens and cedars look better with strands draped through the branches from the top down.

Do the lights need their own power?

They need an outdoor plug within reach of an outdoor-rated cord. If your yard is a long way from a plug, as many acreages are, we will explain how the cords would run before you book.

Can you light just the yard and leave the house?

Yes. Plenty of people only want a front tree or a hedge done.

Can you use the lights I already have?

Yes, if they are outdoor-rated and they work. If they are not, we can supply lights instead.

Do I have to sign up for a yearly plan?

No. You book one job at a time. Install, repair and removal can each be booked alone, even on lights someone else hung.

Do you light trees at strata townhouses in Langley?

Yes, we also work with stratas and low-rise condos. Check your strata rules first, since many Willoughby and Yorkson townhouses have them, and tell us what they allow.
