Why Langley lights go out in winter
Langley sits further inland than the coastal cities. Winter nights are colder, and frost and snow show up more often. Cold outflow wind comes through too, and that is when loose clips give way and a section of roofline ends up hanging or on the ground.
Big family homes in Walnut Grove and Murrayville have two-storey entries and several gables. One dead section there can be hard to spot from the ground. Brookswood and Fernridge have heavy evergreen cover on many lots, which puts branches and damp debris close to strands and plugs. On acreages around Fort Langley and Aldergrove, long cord runs across driveways and lawns give water more places to get into a connection.
Most of these faults are findable. It takes patience and a section-by-section check.
What we fix and what we replace
We start by finding the fault. The usual ones are half a strand out with no obvious bad spot, an outdoor plug that trips whenever it rains, a timer that stopped switching, one dark section of roofline and corroded plugs where strands join.
If a strand is in good shape and a few spots are out, we repair it. On older strands, a bulb or fuse is often the cause. On sealed LED strands, the bad section may not be repairable, and replacing the strand is the better buy. If the wire is cracked or a strand has several faults, replacing it costs less over time.
When lights have come loose, we re-hang them with clips. We do not use nails or staples. If a strand needs replacing, we tell you why before we swap it.
Booking one repair on any lights
You do not need a plan or a yearly contract. Repair is its own job. It works on lights we hung and on lights someone else hung. Tell us who put them up if you know, and send a photo of the part that is out.
Many repairs take under an hour. Finding a fault across a whole house can take longer. The price depends on how long the fault takes to find, how high the work is and whether any strands need replacing. We explain that before we start.
We move roof work when it is slick or windy. In Langley, frost can also push a morning visit later until it clears. We repair lights at stratas, low-rise condos and storefronts too, so Willoughby and Yorkson townhouse complexes can book as well. Check your strata rules first. If you would rather be done with the ladder, we can take the lights down in January.
