Why Langley removals need a bit of planning
Langley sits further inland than the coastal cities. Winter nights are colder, and frost and snow show up more often. A roof that looks fine at 8am can still be slick, so morning roof work sometimes waits for the frost to clear.
Cold outflow wind also comes through in winter. If it is gusty or the roof is wet, we move the roof work to another day. We would rather rebook than send someone up on a slick edge.
In Brookswood and Fernridge, many lots have heavy evergreen cover. Lights wrapped through big trees take longer to unwind than a plain roofline, and they are harder to reach from the ground. If you have been putting off the job because January is wet and cold, this is the kind of work we take off your list.
What a removal covers and what the price depends on
Here is what a removal covers.
- Rooflines, gutters, trees and shrubs.
- Clips taken off with the lights, unless you want them left up for next year.
- Strands coiled and labelled by area, then left where you choose.
- Storage, if you ask when you book.
You can book removal alone. It works for lights we installed, lights you hung yourself, or lights from an installer you can no longer reach. Tell us how high they are and send a photo so we know what is up there.
The price depends on how much light is up and how hard it is to reach. That means the length of the roofline, the number of gables and storeys, how many trees and shrubs are wrapped, and how long the cord runs are. We explain this before we start. There is no program or yearly plan attached.
Homes and properties we see in Langley
Walnut Grove and Murrayville have many family homes with two-storey entries and several gables. Those take the most time on the roof, and they are the ones people are happiest to hand off.
Willoughby and Yorkson have dense newer townhouses and row homes, many under strata rules. We also work with stratas and low-rise condos, so a whole row or building can be taken down in one visit. Langley City has older detached homes and low-rise condos that are usually quicker.
Around Fort Langley and Aldergrove, acreages bring long driveways, gates and big trees. Expect long cord runs and some ground work along with the roof.
If a strand came loose in a storm, leave it alone if it is near a walkway or a power line. Unplug it if you can do that safely, and send us a photo.
