We call back during business hours. Your number is only used for this job.

We install tree and shrub Christmas lights in North Vancouver, from Lower Lonsdale to Deep Cove. We wrap trunks, drape evergreens, net hedges and run outdoor-rated cords to a timer. We use your lights if they work or supply ours, hang them with clips only, and take them down in January.

  • Book the yard alone. The house lights are optional.
  • We use your outdoor-rated lights if they work, or supply lights.
  • Clips only, with no nails or staples, and removal in January.
  • Most yards take an hour or two on top of the house lights. Large trees take longer.
  • Send a photo of the tree and we will say what is possible.

Why North Vancouver trees need a plan

Most North Vancouver yards we light have a big tree in front. In Lynn Valley, Deep Cove and Edgemont, tall firs and cedars stand over the house and drop branches and needles on the roofline. On the upper slopes, lots are steep, gutters sit high and there are few safe places to stand a ladder.

That is usually why the tree stays dark. The house gets lit and the yard sits next to it looking empty.

Rain is the other factor. The North Shore is one of the wettest parts of the region, and it gets wetter toward the mountains. Connections take a beating. We run outdoor-rated cords, keep plugs dry and keep connections off the ground. Upper streets can also see snow and frost when the waterfront does not, so we plan for that when we look at your yard.

How we wrap, drape and net your yard

The method depends on what is growing.

  • Bare trunks and limbs are wrapped closely for a clean look.
  • Evergreens and cedars get strands draped through the branches from the top down.
  • Hedges get nets, so they do not look patchy when lit.

Everything runs on outdoor-rated cords to a timer. We plan the cord route so it does not cross your lawn or walkway.

If you have bins of lights in the garage, we will hang them as long as they are outdoor-rated and working. If they are not, we supply lights. Either way we use clips only, with no nails or staples. The strands sit loosely and come off in January, so the tree is not left wrapped through the growing season.

If a strand dies in the middle of a tree, repair can be booked on its own, even on lights someone else hung.

Booking, timing and what the price depends on

You hire us one job at a time. There is no program or yearly plan to join. Install, repair and removal can each be booked alone.

Most yards take an hour or two on top of the house lights. Large trees take longer. You can also book only the yard, if a front tree or a hedge is all you want done.

The price depends on a few things we will explain before you book:

  • the size and height of the trees and hedges
  • where a ladder can stand safely, and what is under it
  • how far the cords have to run to an outdoor plug
  • whether you supply the lights or we do

If we are also working on your roof and it is slick or windy, we move the roof work to a safer day. We also light stratas, low-rise condos and storefronts around Lower Lonsdale and elsewhere in the city.

Around North Vancouver

  • Lynn Valley, Deep Cove and Edgemont homes sit under tall conifers that drop branches and needles on rooflines.
  • The North Shore gets more rain than the rest of the region, so we keep connections dry and off the ground.
  • Upper streets such as Upper Lonsdale and Blueridge can get snow when the waterfront does not.
  • Steep lots mean high gutters and limited ladder positions, so we check where a ladder can stand before we quote.
  • Around Lower Lonsdale, condos and older walk-ups are common. We also do stratas and low-rise condos.

We work in Lower Lonsdale, Upper Lonsdale, Lynn Valley, Edgemont, Deep Cove, Capilano, Blueridge and the rest of North Vancouver.

Questions people ask

Will wrapping lights hurt my tree?

Not for a season. The strands sit loosely and come off in January. Leaving lights wrapped on a growing limb all year is what causes damage, which is why we remove them early in the new year.

How tall a tree can you light?

It depends on the tree, where a ladder can stand safely and what is under it. On steep North Vancouver lots that can limit things. Send a photo and we will tell you what is possible.

Should a tree be wrapped or draped?

Bare trunks and limbs look best wrapped closely. Evergreens and cedars look better with strands draped through the branches from the top down. We choose based on the tree in your yard.

Do the lights need their own power?

They need an outdoor plug within reach of an outdoor-rated cord. If the yard is a long way from a plug, we will tell you how the cords would run before you book.

Can you light just the yard and not the house?

Yes. Plenty of people only want a front tree or a hedge done. You can book the yard alone.

Can you use the lights I already own?

Yes, if they are outdoor-rated and working. If they are not, we can supply lights. Either way, clips only, with no nails or staples.

Can you fix a dead strand in a tree someone else lit?

Yes. Repair can be booked alone, even on lights someone else hung. A dead strand buried in the middle of a tree is a common reason people call.

When do the lights come down?

Removal is in January. You can book it alone, so you are not tied to a plan or a yearly program.
