Lighting a Burnaby strata, condo or storefront
Burnaby has dense tower clusters around Metrotown, Brentwood and Lougheed, and townhouse complexes fill much of the middle of the city. Each has its own common areas to light. That usually means entrances, rooflines, signs, entrance trees and shared walkways.
Most jobs start with the same problems. A council wants one tidy look across the complex. A storefront needs to look festive before shopping season. Trees and common areas have no safe way to reach them. Last year's lights are half out and nobody knows who hung them.
We plan the display, hang it, and plan the removal at the same time. If you already have outdoor-rated lights in storage and they work, we hang them. If not, we supply them. We can also repair or remove lights that someone else installed.
No ladders left out during busy hours. No chasing a contractor in January.
Working around residents, tenants and customers
A strata or shop can't close for a lighting job, so we book around the way the property is used. We schedule work around opening hours and busy times. We keep walkways and entrances clear while we are on site.
To get started, send us:
- The address
- Photos of the areas to be lit
- Where the power is
- The dates you have in mind
On larger properties, a walk-through helps. Bigger complexes are often planned over more than one visit, so the duration depends on the size of the property.
We use clips only. No nails or staples go into siding, trim or common property. That matters at townhouse complexes around Brentwood and Metrotown, where many councils set rules on what goes on the exterior. Check your bylaws first. We will work to them.
Individual owners in a strata usually need permission too, so it is worth asking before you book.
What the price depends on and when to book
We don't have a flat price for a property, because no two are alike. The price depends on a few things:
- How much of the property is being lit, and how many visits that takes
- How high the rooflines and trees are, and how safe the access is
- Whether we hang your lights or supply them
- Whether removal is booked with the install
We explain these before you decide, so there are no surprises.
Plan early in the fall. Larger displays need a walk-through, an approval from the council or manager, and a date set before the calendar fills. Higher ground such as Burnaby Mountain and Capitol Hill gets more rain and the odd snowfall, so those properties are best done early.
If a roof is slick or the wind is up, we move the roof work rather than push through it. We take calls Monday to Saturday, 8am to 7pm.
