Lighting a Richmond complex or storefront
Richmond is flat, close to the water and open to wind. That shapes how lights should go up on a strata or commercial property. Townhouse complexes are common across the city, and the strata usually decides what goes on exterior walls and common property. Brighouse and City Centre are mostly newer condo towers. We work on the low-rise condos, townhouse complexes, offices, retail plazas and storefronts around them.
We plan the entrances, rooflines, signs, entrance trees and common areas that a council or manager wants to look consistent. Winter storms here bring wind more often than snow. So we put extra clips on the exposed side of a roofline, and we use clips only, never nails or staples.
Flat ground holds water through the wet season. We keep cord connections up off the ground so they are not sitting in standing water.
Working around residents, tenants and customers
Nobody wants a ladder across the front door at 5 pm. We book the work around opening hours and busy times, and we keep walkways and entrances clear while we are on site.
Bigger complexes are often planned over more than one visit. For those, a walk-through helps. We look at the areas to be lit, find where the power is, and agree on dates before the calendar fills. Plan early in the fall, because larger displays need a council or manager's approval first.
If roof work lands on a slick or windy day, we move it. Wind across Richmond's flat lots can be strong, and a wet roofline is not a safe place to be.
Install and removal can be booked together, with the removal date set from the start. Nobody has to chase it in January.
Hired one job at a time, and what the price depends on
There is no program or yearly plan to join. Book the job you need.
- Install. We hang your lights if they are outdoor-rated and working, or we supply them.
- Repair. If last year's lights are half out and no one knows who hung them, we can repair them.
- Removal. We take lights down in January, even if someone else put them up.
Each of these can be booked alone. That suits a property manager who wants one company for both install and removal. It also suits a council that has bins of lights in storage and just wants them hung.
Price depends on the size of the property, how much of it is being lit, whose lights are used, how high and awkward the access is, and how many visits the job needs. We explain this before you book, so the number makes sense when you see it.
